CAS Orders CAF to Accept Samuel Eto’o’s Candidacy for Executive Committee
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) must allow Cameroonian football chief Samuel Eto’o to stand as a candidate for its executive committee.
CAF had initially rejected the candidacy of Eto’o, a former African Player of the Year and current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), ahead of the election scheduled for next week during its general assembly meeting.

Eto’o, who has been at odds with Cameroon’s sports ministry, challenged CAF’s decision at the sport’s top court.
In its ruling on Friday, CAS ordered CAF to include Eto’o in the list of candidates for the executive committee elections.
“It is ordered that the CAF Executive Committee includes Mr. Samuel Eto’o Fils in the list of candidates for election to the CAF Executive Committee by the CAF Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting on 12 March 2025,” the Switzerland-based court stated.
According to sources in Cameroon, the 43-year-old former Barcelona forward is eyeing a position as CAF vice-president.
