Corps members urged to promote unity at NYSC orientation
Newly sworn-in corps members in Plateau State have been urged to play active roles in promoting national unity and integration as they begin the 2026 Batch “A” Stream II orientation programme.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Kenneth Buenyen, said the National Youth Service Corps remains an important platform for building unity across the country.
He told the corps members that they are expected to go beyond participation in the one-year service scheme and serve as symbols of national integration and contributors to social and economic development.

The governor advised them to pay close attention to all orientation activities and comply with the rules guiding the scheme. He also encouraged them to develop discipline, patriotism, self-reliance and leadership skills that would be useful during and after their service year.
Mutfwang further urged the corps members to carry out their duties with commitment, avoid misinformation and reject actions or narratives that could threaten national unity. He said they should see themselves as responsible agents of positive change in society.
He assured them that the state government, working with security agencies, would continue efforts to maintain peace and ensure their safety throughout their stay in the state.
