First Lady Urges Unified Action to Shield Nigeria’s Schools
Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed for a united effort to protect the nation’s schools, stressing that education is the bedrock of a brighter future.
Speaking on Tuesday to mark the 2025 International Day to Protect Education from Attack, she urged Nigerians to prioritize the safety of students, teachers, and school facilities.
Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, “Challenging Narratives, Reshaping Action,” as a call to take bold steps beyond mere promises. She emphasized that ensuring safe learning environments is critical to the country’s progress.
“Protecting education is about securing our children’s future and our nation’s hope,” she said. “We cannot afford to let our schools become targets.”
Tinubu praised global organizations like UNICEF, UNESCO, and the Education Above All Foundation for their work in promoting child education worldwide.
She further acknowledged the efforts of Nigeria’s security forces in safeguarding schools but called for stronger, collective action to make education a national priority.
