The Imo State Police Command has arrested three men in the Ogii community, Okigwe Local Government Area, for allegedly possessing a human skull.
The suspects, identified as Patrick Okoere (29), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20), were apprehended along the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway following a tip-off from residents.
Police spokesperson Henry Okoye, in a statement on Tuesday, revealed that the men were caught with a human skull, a native hen, and white garments. During interrogation, Okoere allegedly claimed that his uncle, Osunta Oko, had instructed him to procure the skull for use in a land dispute and that he found it by a riverbank in an area known for kidnapping activities.
The police have launched a manhunt for Osunta Oko and other potential accomplices. Meanwhile, forensic investigations, including DNA analysis, are underway to determine the skull’s identity.
Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to security and vowed that justice would be served. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
