The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has acknowledged errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results.
Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, made this admission during a press briefing in Abuja. “What should have been a moment of joy has been marred by one or two errors,” he said.
The UTME is a crucial exam for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions, testing candidates in four subjects.
Out of 1.9 million candidates, over 1.5 million scored below 200 out of 400 marks, sparking concerns.
According to JAMB, only 4,756 candidates (0.24%) scored 320 and above, while 73,441 candidates (3.76%) scored between 250 and 299. A total of 983,187 candidates (50.29%) scored between 160 and 199, which is often considered the minimum threshold for admissions.
The results have raised concerns, with over 75% of candidates scoring below 200. Some affected candidates are threatening to sue JAMB over the errors.
