JAMB Assures Candidates Won’t Write Exams Outside Registered States
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that no candidate will be posted outside their state of registration to sit for the upcoming 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, gave the assurance in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
Benjamin explained that the confusion came during the UTME mock exams, where some candidates had to write in centres outside their registered state due to limited availability of approved mock centres.

He said this would not be the case during the main exam, as all registered Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country would be fully operational, ensuring that candidates write within their registered states.
According to him, candidates who registered early were more likely to get test centres closer to their preferred locations, while those who delayed might have been assigned centres farther away, but still within their state.
He said the mock exam was used to test new improvements in the UTME process and help candidates get familiar with the system. Some delays and challenges were recorded during the mock, which he said the board had anticipated.
JAMB had earlier apologised for the inconvenience some candidates faced and urged them to remain focused in preparation for the main UTME, which starts on April 25.
