Jandor: PDP Has Lost Faith in Itself
The 2023 Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has declared that the party has lost faith in itself due to persistent internal crises.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television on Tuesday, Jandor, who officially left the PDP on Monday, cited the leadership crisis at the party’s national headquarters as a major factor in his decision to quit.
He pointed to the struggles of acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, who has faced growing criticism following the exit of Iyorchia Ayu, as well as the dispute over the National Secretary position, with both Senator Samuel Anyanwu and former National Youth Leader Sunday Ude-Okoye claiming the role.
Tensions within the Board of Trustees, National Working Committee, and National Executive Committee have further deepened divisions, particularly in the South-South, where a zonal congress was held on February 22 without the approval of the region’s governors.

Jandor described the crisis as damaging to the PDP’s public image, stating, “Who goes around posting that they are a member of PDP these days? Even the party itself has given up.”
He added that the same individuals responsible for past failures still control the party, making any real change unlikely ahead of the 2025 congresses and 2026 primary elections.
Following his resignation, Jandor said he had not yet decided on his next political move, but he would consult widely before making a decision.
“There are 18 political parties in Nigeria, so there are 17 other options. Coalitions are also forming, with people coming together to explore new possibilities,” he said.
He, however, emphasized that wherever he goes next, he will abide by the leadership and rules of his new party, stating, “This is the path we have chosen, and we are not deviating. Only God determines the future.”
