Japan Blow: Barcelona Cancels Match Over ‘Serious Breach’

Tokyo,  FC Barcelona has abruptly cancelled their scheduled pre-season friendly in Japan,

just days before the team was due to face J-League side Vissel Kobe.

The club announced the decision late Wednesday, blaming

“serious contractual breaches”

by the local promoter. Though the exact details were not made public,

reports suggest financial disagreements were at the heart of the fallout.

The match, set for this Sunday, was part of Barcelona’s larger Asia tour, which also includes upcoming fixtures in South Korea.

Organisers in Seoul have moved quickly to reassure fans that the rest of the schedule remains unchanged. A statement from D-Drive,

the South Korean event company handling those matches, confirmed that preparations for games in Seoul and Daegu are proceeding as planned.

Vissel Kobe said they are “investigating the situation” and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to supporters.

The cancellation has raised uncertainty around the club’s pre-season preparations,

which are now being reassessed at their Spanish base. Further updates are expected in the coming days.
