According to the release, the committee, described as “high-powered,” will be officially inaugurated by the SSG on a later date and will be chaired by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya.

The initiative, the government explained, is a strategic step to guarantee mass participation in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) directive.

The statement stressed that the task force is more than a bureaucratic arrangement, but a deliberate effort to strengthen participatory democracy and ensure every qualified resident of Kano registers to vote.

It further called on traditional rulers, civil society organisations, political parties, trade unions, youth and women groups, as well as the wider public to support the exercise.

“Voter registration goes beyond routine procedure; it is a civic duty of utmost importance. It is the key to shaping governance and ensuring that the voices of Kano people are represented at the polls,” the statement concluded.
