“Nigerians Must Go” Ghanaians Protest

A group of Ghanaians have taken to the streets in protest, accusing some Nigerians living in the country of being involved in criminal activities such as prostitution, ritual killings, and violent attacks.

In a viral video circulating on Tuesday, the demonstrators, numbering in their hundreds were seen holding placards with inscriptions like “Armed robbery and violent attacks must stop,” “Our health at stake due to mass prostitution,” and “Nigerians are kidnapping and using people for rituals.”

Some protesters also made claims targeting the Igbo ethnic group in particular, linking them to cases of missing children in the country. The demonstrators further displayed a photograph of a man they allege was killed by a Nigerian in Accra.

One of the women leading the protest, appearing to be in her mid-30s, expressed anger over the behaviour of Nigerians in Ghana. “Nigerians must go because you can’t be in someone’s country and be doing anyhow,” she shouted.

Another protester claimed that Nigerians had taken control of several local markets and were contributing to rising crime in the country.

While the protest has gained attention online, there has been no official response yet from either the Ghanaian or Nigerian governments regarding the allegations.
