NSCDC Deploys 28,000 Personnel Nationwide for Eid-El-Kabir Holiday Security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 28,000 personnel across the country to ensure public safety and protect key infrastructure during the holiday season.

The deployment, approved by the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ahmed Audi, includes operatives from various specialised units such as the Intelligence Directorate, Special Female Squad, Tactical Teams, Counter Terrorism Unit, and the Commandant General’s Intelligence Squad.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, Audi said the measure was part of broader efforts to prevent criminal activities and maintain peace nationwide.

He warned that festive periods often present opportunities for criminals and stressed the importance of taking proactive steps to stop potential threats.

Addressing senior officials at a strategy meeting, Audi called for improved intelligence gathering through strong engagement with local communities.

He urged state commandants and the FCT Command to work closely with other security agencies to tackle insecurity in all forms, including insurgency, kidnapping, vandalism, and clashes between farmers and herders.

The NSCDC chief also appealed to private security operators to support the initiative by sharing timely information and enhancing cooperation during emergencies.

Audi noted that effective security is a shared responsibility and called on Nigerians to assist by reporting suspicious activities, saying, “Together we can achieve lasting safety across the country.”
