The Lagos State Police Command has granted bail to Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder of House on the Rock Church, after he voluntarily reported himself for questioning.

This follows the circulation of a viral video showing the clergyman holding what appeared to be a gun while confronting another road user.
Police investigations revealed the object was a prohibited stun gun, not a firearm.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a statement posted on the command’s official X (formerly Twitter) page.
“Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command, was interrogated and voluntarily gave a cautionary statement to investigators,” the statement read.
Hundeyin further clarified that the item seen in the video was a stun gun an anti-riot device prohibited under Nigerian law and not a lethal weapon.
Pastor Adefarasin was reportedly driving an unregistered vehicle at the time of the incident, which was recorded by a Lagos-based content creator known for posting luxury vehicle footage.
The police have since released the pastor on bail, while the investigation continues.
“No one is above the law,” Hundeyin stated. “The outcome of the investigation will be made public.”
In response to the video, Adefarasin had earlier taken to social media, claiming the object in question was not a firearm and that he never pointed it at anyone.
“I want to assure you — that was certainly not a firearm,” he said.
The incident has sparked debate online, with many questioning the legality of possessing such devices.
Authorities reaffirm that stun guns remain illegal in Nigeria without special clearance.
