This edition marks the return of Africa’s flagship football competition to East Africa for the first time since Ethiopia hosted in 1976. Motsepe said the tripartite hosting arrangement would offer a unique and memorable experience for fans and players alike.

Concerns over the readiness of stadiums and infrastructure in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania had been raised, but CAF has indicated that all three nations are on track to meet requirements. The 2027 tournament promises not only to celebrate African football but also to showcase the region’s growing capacity to host major sporting events.
