PDP Positions for 2027 as Gana Tips Jonathan for Comeback
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is intensifying preparations for the 2027 general election, with former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, announcing that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will contest on the party’s platform.
Speaking after the PDP Niger State Congress in Minna, Gana said Nigerians had witnessed leadership under two different presidents since Jonathan’s exit and now wanted him back in power.
He stressed that Jonathan’s return would answer the growing call for stability and inclusiveness in governance.
At the congress, which produced new state executives led by Aliyu Halidu, party leaders rallied members to unite ahead of 2027.

Halidu pledged to deliver a people-focused leadership, while Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa assured that the PDP was “revitalised, trusted, and ready for victory.”
The push for Jonathan’s comeback coincided with political sparring in Adamawa, where the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) faulted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s response to a terrorist attack in Wagga Mongoro.
Meanwhile, APC accused him of exploiting grief for political gain, describing his comments as hollow and opportunistic.
With Gana’s declaration and growing internal confidence, the PDP is presenting itself as a party regaining strength and eyeing a return to power in 2027.
