The operation led to the arrest of 54-year-old Orekoya Abayomi, while other gang members escaped. A search of his residence uncovered a locally made pistol, six live cartridges, an Emerald pump-action gun, and 21 suspected fake voter cards.

In a separate operation on March 22, the Zonal Intelligence Response Squad dismantled a human trafficking ring in the Ipaja/Ayobo area of Lagos.

Two female suspects, Stella Edem and Susan Michael, were arrested. Edem confessed to trafficking young girls to Mauritania for sex work, earning over ₦500,000 from the illegal trade, including selling her own 19-year-old daughter.

Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of inquiries.
