Police Detain Peller After Live-Streamed Road Crash in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody popular TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, known online as Peller, following a road crash linked to reckless driving captured during a live broadcast.
Police action came after a video circulated widely on social media showing the influencer speeding, losing control and crashing his vehicle on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The footage triggered public concern over safety on Lagos roads.
Confirming the arrest on Tuesday, the command said the incident posed a clear danger to the driver and other road users, prompting immediate intervention. The police noted that the act went beyond content creation and amounted to conduct capable of causing loss of life.
The suspect is currently being held as investigations continue at the State Criminal Investigation Department, where officers are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash and the decision to stream the drive live.

Police authorities said findings from the probe would be made public and that the case would be taken to court once investigations are concluded.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Olohundare Jimoh, warned social media users against turning public spaces into stages for unlawful acts, stressing that online popularity would not shield anyone from accountability.
He urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and reminded residents that enforcement would be carried out without regard to status or influence, as part of efforts to curb dangerous driving and protect lives across the state.
The incident has renewed public debate about risky behaviour by online personalities and the responsibility that comes with large followings, especially on issues affecting public safety.
