Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, reaffirmed on Tuesday her commitment to visiting her constituency for the Sallah celebrations, dismissing speculations that she had canceled her trip.

In a statement released by her media team early Tuesday, she urged supporters to disregard circulating rumors about the cancellation of her planned visit.

The statement read: “We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s visit to Kogi Central for Sallah remains unchanged. Despite the misinformation being spread online, there has been no official statement from our office regarding any cancellation.”

Reiterating her role as the senator representing Kogi Central, Akpoti-Uduaghan encouraged her supporters to turn out in large numbers to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with her.

“As a representative of Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains committed to engaging with her people and strengthening unity within the community,” the statement continued.

Her team assured that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth and joyous celebration, inviting all constituents to partake in the festivities.

This announcement comes just hours after the Kogi State Government imposed a ban on rallies and public gatherings, citing security concerns.

The state government also prohibited fishing and other activities in certain areas, linking them to recent fatalities in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette within Kogi Local Government Area.

In a statement on Monday, Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, explained that the restrictions were necessary to prevent potential threats to security. He added that intelligence reports suggested that some individuals were planning to instigate violent demonstrations under the guise of political and religious movements in Kogi Central.
