Tinubu Meets Rivers Sole Administrator, Ibas, at Aso Villa
Barely 24 hours after declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu is meeting with the newly appointed sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Étè Ibas (retd.), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Ibas arrived at the forecourt of the Villa at about 12:48 p.m. on Wednesday for discussions with the President regarding the administration of the state.
Tinubu had on Tuesday suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months, citing prolonged political instability, constitutional breaches, and security threats.

The crisis in Rivers State stems from a power struggle between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
As part of his directive, Tinubu appointed Ibas, a former Chief of Naval Staff, to oversee the state’s affairs until stability is restored.
The meeting at the Villa is expected to provide further clarity on Ibas’s mandate and the administration of the state in the coming months.
