Wike Declares PDP Unready for 2027, Says Party Lacks Structure to Challenge APC

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has publicly declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not adequately prepared for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a live media parley in Abuja on Friday, Wike emphasized that the opposition party currently lacks the structure and strategic direction needed to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election cycle.

Wike’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts by opposition leaders across Nigeria to form a united front against the APC. However, internal divisions and conflicting interests among key stakeholders have continued to hinder coalition progress.

“The PDP is not ready for the 2027 election. It is very obvious,” Wike said. “For instance, I have an examination, and I go to class to read. But am I truly reading or just pretending? That is the current state of the PDP. They are simply posturing.”

He continued, “Power struggles and lack of unity cannot take the party forward. They must stop deceiving themselves.”
