LASU Staff Strikes Indefinitely Over Welfare Disputes
Academic and non-academic workers at Lagos State University (LASU) have gone on an indefinite strike on Thursday, July 31, 2025, demanding resolution to ongoing welfare issues and other grievances with the university’s administration.
The Joint Action Committee, uniting the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), formalized the strike in a letter to Vice Chancellor Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello. Signed by union leaders, including Prof. Ibrahim Bakare (ASUU-LASU) and Oluwaseyi Lawal (SSANU-LASU), the letter declared the action would persist until all demands are met.
