STUDENTS’ HOSTEL COLLAPSES AT FUNAI, EBONYI STATE.
A portion of a student hostel building at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), in Ebonyi State, collapsed yesterday, sparking concern among students, staff and outsiders.
The three-storey building, known as Pentagon Lodge, is a private hostel used by several students of the institution. Eyewitnesses say the affected section of the building came crashing down in the early afternoon, with the incident captured on video by people.
The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Elom Iyke Ubochi, expressed gratitude that the collapse occurred during lecture hours, when most students were attending classes.

“Thankfully, no lives were lost. The incident happened when most of the students were on campus for academic activities,” Ubochi said.
He, however, acknowledged that some students’ personal belongings were damaged during the incident.

Ubochi also admonishes all affected students to make an official report about the situation to the Dean of Students’ Affairs for documentation and necessary support. Authorities are expected to investigate the structural integrity of the remaining sections of the building to prevent further danger.
