Obasanjo Blasts EFCC Over Midnight Raid on Library
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Presidential Library in Abeokuta was reportedly stormed in the early hours by over 50 armed operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), sparking panic, gunfire, and injuries among guests.
The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) management accused the EFCC team, led by an officer named “Olapade,” of invading the Green Legacy Hotel within the complex during a pool party without presenting a warrant. The officials described the action as “gangster-like” and said the raid caused chaos and terrorized attendees.
Kayode Adeyemi, Special Adviser on Media to Obasanjo, said the operatives fired shots and threatened to kill people during the raid around 2 a.m. “This invasion caused panic and serious injuries as people tried to escape,” he added.

When questioned, the EFCC team said they acted on an intelligence tip about a private event, but the OOPL management pointed out that the gathering had been publicly advertised days before.
OOPL has vowed to demand explanations and an apology from the EFCC, Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS), warning that legal action may follow if necessary.
