Tinubu Urges Obedience, Compassion at Eid
President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to uphold compassion, tolerance and respect for the rule of law as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir across the country.
He made the call on Wednesday after observing prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos, where he said the season serves as a reminder of obedience, sacrifice and care for others.
The President said Nigerians should reflect the values of love and generosity in their daily lives, stressing that discrimination, hatred and division have no place in society. He added that citizens must remain committed to lawful conduct and obedience to the will of Allah as part of efforts to strengthen national unity.

Tinubu also pointed to the meaning of sacrifice associated with Eid-el-Kabir, noting that it reflects the importance of human life and the need to protect it. He said the teachings of the season reject violence and place responsibility on individuals to act with kindness and restraint.
He further stated that Nigeria’s diversity should unite rather than divide, urging citizens to focus on shared values and collective progress. According to him, no religious, ethnic or political difference should override the need for peace and development.
The President encouraged Nigerians to support the less privileged and show understanding towards one another, while warning that acts such as banditry are not supported by religious teachings.
